Delighted to report that Melody will go home
from the hospital later
today. She was able to perform digestive functions (which shall not be named
to protect those with delicate sensibilities among us) that were the
milestone/measure for release.
She sat up for a long while today, and walked up and down the hall with a
walker, but minimal additional support.
Her nausea has abated, and her pain is manageable.
We are really happy to be at this point, just in time for our 10th
anniversary tomorrow!
As you know, my wife is very strong and I know that she is going to get
through this - we're going to get through it together. We won't exactly
laugh about this on our 20th (and maybe 30th!) anniversary, but we will
definitely look back at this challenging time with some satisfaction,
knowing that life has been unable to throw any curve balls we couldn't
handle together.
I will probably slow down on sending out these updates
now, but here's what's coming next for her:
- Pathology should arrive early next week, and with it, the final game
plan
- Phone appointment with an oncologist on 11/30, probably to discuss
chemotherapy
- Post-surgical follow-up visit with the surgeon on 12/1
- Chemo should begin in 3-4 weeks
Please consider no news to be good news, but know that I will notify if
there are any significant updates.
Thank you again for your kind words and love and concern for my beautiful
wife.
